We are proud to announce a month-long kitchen partnership with our neighbours - the award-winning, family-run Kashmiri restaurant Aagrah Leeds.
The partnership, which runs until Saturday 21 June, is an exciting collaboration bringing together two iconic Leeds institutions united by a shared mission to celebrate community, culture, and creativity.
Both Aagrah and Leeds Playhouse are deeply rooted in the local community and committed to inclusivity and creating spaces where everyone can come together.
Naeem Aslam, Director of Aagrah Leeds, said: “We’re honoured to bring our food and heritage to a respected cultural venue. This collaboration is a celebration of everything we love about Leeds – its diversity, creativity, and community.”
Shawab Iqbal, Chief Executive of Leeds Playhouse, said: “We are so pleased to be collaborating with Aagrah Leeds. Their service is always exceptional, the food is high quality, and the ethos as a business working hard in and for our local communities aligns with our values. Leeds Playhouse believes in the power of shared experiences, and partnering with Aagrah to share great food and culture feels like a perfect pairing.”
The kitchen takeover coincides with the Playhouse’s outstanding co-production of A Thousand Splendid Suns, an epic retelling of Ursula Rani Sarma’s play based on Khaled Hosseini’s best-selling spiritual sequel to The Kite Runner, and Northern Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet.
Pre-show diners will be offered culinary delights like chicken and vegetable biriyani, vegetable samosa chaat, vegan chickpea curry, gluten-free aloo tikki chaat, and vegetable samosas.
On Quarry and Courtyard performance days, pre-show dining is available in the Playhouse Kitchen from 11.30am for matinees and from 5pm for evening performances. Last orders are 30 minutes before show start time.
Since opening its first restaurant in Shipley in 1977, Aagrah has become a beloved Yorkshire brand, now boasting seven branches across the county. Its award-winning team of chefs blends time-honoured dishes with culinary innovation, offering authentic Kashmiri cuisine.
