Develop your project
There are several ways we can support your project including: free rehearsal and R&D space, informal sharings, advice on project planning and funding applications as well as programming your work.
Free rehearsal space
We offer free rehearsal space to local artists and companies on a first come, first served basis throughout the year. Depending on availability, our Furnace Coordinator can sit in on rehearsals and act as an outside eye/first audience member and provide dramaturgical feedback.
Please note that we cannot offer more than 5 days per artist per year and you cannot request a space more than 4 months in advance. To book rehearsal space email naomi.sumner@leedsplayhouse.org.uk.
PLEASE NOTE: We are currently fully booked and cannot offer any in kind rehearsal space until September 2026. Please do not contact us about booking for Autumn 2026 and beyond at this time.
Funding Applications
Our Furnace Coordinator can give advice on applying for Arts Council funding and other sources of funding including trusts and foundations. If you’d like feedback on a funding application before submitting, you can email naomi.sumner@leedsplayhouse.org.uk to arrange a meeting either in person or online.
Unsolicited Scripts & Pitches
Leeds Playhouse is currently in a period of transition following the arrival of our new Artistic Director Tom Wright. We are now taking time to shape a refreshed approach to artist engagement and to how we consider and respond to project proposals.
During this period, we are unable to accept unsolicited script submissions or pitches outside of our advertised script windows. This approach allows us to engage more meaningfully with artists and to ensure there is a clear and realistic pathway to production for projects on our development slate.
Programming
This is for artists or companies with a finished show that doesn’t require further development. Simply email your tour pack along with preferred dates and financial deal to programming@leedsplayhouse.org.uk. If you’d like a more informal chat first about what your tour pack should include, email daniel.gilbert@leedsplayhouse.org.uk. Please note that we typically programme 10-18 months in advance.
