Are you looking to gain knowledge and experience in an area of theatre design? Are you aged over 18? Are you locally rooted to West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region?
We are hosting a series of FREE intensives exploring different aspects of theatre design. These intensives will offer artistic and practical deep dives for people interested in a career in Set & Costume Design, Lighting Design, Sound Design & Composition, and Puppetry Design & Direction. You will be introduced to the process of creating a design for theatre within your chosen field including referencing and developing ideas, design processes and presentations, and how your design area interfaces with other elements of theatre storytelling.
There will be a support worker/note taker available at each intensive. We can provide BSL interpreters or anything you might need to make the intensive accessible to you.
These intensives are generously supported by the Jerwood Foundation.

For those applying for the Introduction to Lighting Design course, we’ll let you know if you have a place on the course by 6pm, Wednesday 28 May.
For those applying for the other courses, we’ll let you know if you have a place by 6pm, Friday 6 June.
To apply, you must be over 18 years of age and you must be locally rooted to West Yorkshire and the Leeds City Region. This is because Leeds Playhouse is committed to nurturing our local ecology, so even if you are happy to commute from further afield, you are not eligible to apply for this course.
