We’ve teamed up with Leeds-based Potternewton Park Rollers to host a Summer Skate Ball on Saturday 5 August, with family skate games, DJ skills for kids, a roller dance workshop, sensory time for babies and toddlers – and even a session for parents with prams, co-hosted by family event specialists Boomchikkaboom.

‘Our marshals will be on hand to help with prams, kids, crossover steps or anything else people need throughout the day,’ said Carly Granger from the award-winning roller skate collective that started life in Chapeltown. ‘Whether you’re a pro on wheels or a newbie, this event is for everyone. Bring your friends and skate family to enjoy the summer vibes with us.

‘The ball gives skaters a chance to glam up – but in their own style. Of course, we all love a bit of Bridgerton, but skaters are great at bringing a unique style and flair to their outfits. The vibe is elegant and funky. We want everyone to be their authentic self and wear whatever they want proudly.’

Potternewton Park Rollers recently took part in a fashion shoot with Ebony Milestone Clothing, a Leeds-based brand that curates and retails vibrant and stylish African clothing, homewares and accessories, showcasing a range of glam African print attire.

‘We believe you can look and feel amazing in whatever you choose,’ said Bev Brown, CEO of Ebony Milestone Clothing. ‘Wear what you love and you’ll love who you are.’
