School Plays Masterclass
Would you like support from a professional Leeds Playhouse Artist with your school play? Leeds Playhouse are looking for schools to work in partnership with, to support the delivery of their existing school play.
We will work with your staff to help them bring their ideas to life on stage at your school.

Our School Play Masterclass package (£1400+VAT) includes:
A full day of workshops with your pupils at the beginning of your rehearsal process – this can either be an entire day spent with one class, or shorter sessions spent with multiple classes if you are a 2 or 3 form entry school. These sessions will cover:
- Vocal & Physical Warm-Ups
- Vocal performance skills
- Stage Presence
- Characterisation
- Team building/ Working as an ensemble
- Delivering a confident performance
A 90-minute learning & planning session with the school staff working on the show, to share everything we know about how to take a script from the page to the stage. This will include:
- Script analysis, identifying staging challenges and tackling them creatively
- Creating an effective rehearsal schedule
- The basics of blocking
- How to create a clearly marked script with blocking and technical cues to streamline your rehearsal process
- How to make clear, effective rehearsal notes, and deliver notes effectively
A Leeds Playhouse Artist will spend a day as a core part of your final day of rehearsals, during this day our artist will:
- Run a whole cast vocal & physical warm up
- Help with final run throughs, including support with scene transitions and integrating music and sound
- Give notes on at least one full dress rehearsal
- Be an extra pair of hands with professional experience creating large-scale shows and running rehearsals with children and young people.
