Writing Ourselves: A Creative Workshop with Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan
31 Oct 2026
Join Peanut Butter & Blueberries playwright Suhaiymah Manzoor-Khan for a welcoming creative workshop exploring writing, identity and self-expression.
Saturday 31 October, 4.30pm–6.30pm
City Room
Using ideas from the play as a starting point, the workshop will explore what it means to write from your own experiences without relying on stereotypes, trying to disprove them, or feeling the need to cater to a white audience or gaze.
Through conversation, writing exercises and creative prompts, there will be space to explore your own ideas, share reflections and consider how racialised writers and artists can tell stories on their own terms.
This workshop is for Muslim people and people from racially marginalised communities who live, work or have connections in Leeds. You don’t need to identify as an artist or writer, or have any previous creative experience to take part.
If you’d like to join the workshop, please complete this short form to tell us a little about yourself and why you’d like to take part:
