Furnace Tuesdays

21 Jun 2022 – 19 Mar 2024

  • Venue
    Other Space - Playhouse
  • Running time
    120 mins

You’ve heard of going to the gym for your body – well Furnace Tuesdays are going to the gym for your creative skills.

The third Tuesday of each month, we are inviting artists to come together to flex their theatre making muscles, possibly to share games and exercises, but importantly to build community and find support through your peers. Any theatre maker at any stage of their career is welcome to come along, you might want to bring your favourite warm up to share, you might like to just enjoy learning some new ones, or you might want to chat and share your recent career successes and challenges in a supportive environment of people on the same journey.

Playhouse staff will be around to support, but Furnace Tuesdays are a session by theatre makers, for theatre makers.

Schedule

11am-1pm – Focus: Reflections on Our Sharing

An informal sharing of work in progress by Furnace Tuesdays members. This session will allow time to discuss the work that was shared, offer feedback to each other, and plan next steps.

2pm-5pm – Open session

The afternoon portion of Furnace Tuesdays is optional time to work with other creatives, whether that’s a reading of your script, rehearsals, a self-tape, or just talking through an idea!

11am-1pm – Focus: Building Your Networks

For this session, we’ll be joined by a range of local programmers, producers and artist development staff from a range of local organisations, giving you an opportunity to connect with local theatres and learn how to get your work on there!
