Global Majority writers, are you sick of seeing the same sad stories being told on stage about people who look like you?

Are you tired of feeling responsible for educating white audiences? Do you really want to write a preachy trauma play about race or just think you have to in order to get a theatre to read (and hopefully programme) your work?  If you could write about ANYTHING what would it be?

Leeds Playhouse is partnering with New Earth Theatre to host a workshop for Black and Brown writers to explore these questions in a safe space. Led by playwright and dramaturg Naomi Sumner Chan, we’ll use a mix of discussion and writing exercises to find the stories we really want to share with the world and that truly reflect who we are.

This FREE workshop runs from 2-4pm. Participants are also welcome to stay from 4-5pm to socialise with fellow writers. Light refreshments will be provided.

Six places will be reserved for writers from East and Southeast Asian backgrounds. Please let us know if that’s you when you book your place.
