Two amazing theatrical experiences from two Leeds schools.
Leeds City Academy
Set 400 years in the future, City of Tomorrow is a dystopian, Alice in Wonderland-inspired performance following a girl in a futuristic Leeds who cannot remember who she is. As the story unfolds through singing, acting, and dancing, she meets a series of unusual characters who guide and challenge her, helping her piece together her identity while questioning the strange and controlled world around her.
Leeds East Academy
Celebrating the 400th anniversary of the city receiving its borough charter in 1626, A Gift We Pass On highlights the legacy of gifts, talents, and traditions passed down from the 1600s that have shaped who we are today. Storytelling, healing, compassion, and empowerment fuel this thoughtful exploration of idols and celebrity culture that concludes with a tea party that celebrates equality and diversity.
This event is part of Open Season, the Playhouse’s annual festival of community creativity. The theme for 2026 is Happy Birthday, Leeds! commemorating the milestone 400th anniversary our hometown receiving its royal charter and becoming a city.
